Source : Tip Hero
2 crisp apples (The Gunny Sack recommends Honeycrisp)
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and/or cinnamon, for topping (optional)
Lets start off 🙂
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Begin the “bloomin’” look by slicing off the top 1/4 to 1/3 of each apple. Scoop out the cores of the apples. Use a thin knife to make two deep circular cuts around the center of the apple. Turn the apples over and make narrow cuts all the way around the apple. When you flip the apple back over, you’ll see all the cuts!
Place the apples in an oven-safe dish, and put two caramels into the center of each apple.
Put the butter and brown sugar in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir, then heat for another 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir in the flour and cinnamon.
Divide the mixture over the top of the apples.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Check the apples after 25 minutes and continue cooking until tender. Some apples can take 45 minutes to an hour to soften.
Top with ice cream, drizzle with caramel, and/or sprinkle with cinnamon. The ice cream will cause the caramel in the center to harden, so eat quickly or put the ice cream scoop on the side.
Points to be noted :
Probably wait until it’s actually fall to make it.
Be patient and use fresh, Honeycrisp apples.
Don’t be afraid when you cut the bloom pattern. Go deep!
Consider buying an apple corer.
Be patient during the baking time.
