The other day, I was watching a movie “The Pursuit of Happiness” a story of struggling salesman who takes custody of his son as he’s poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavor. Such movies and incidents make you re-think on the fact if money can really buy the happiness?
Happiness is the result of all the right wheels turning at just the right time. You walk down the street, find 2000 bucks, go to your favorite store and get 80% off. But, such incidents can’t happen to you every day. Thus, luck has nothing to do with an ultimate happiness.
Happiness is a choice and not an accident or a charitable gift from the universe. You just need to dig it out of every situation, no matter how worse it is. It is about choosing to see the adventure in every dark and believing that there will be a light after it, that there is always a good in every situation and person, no matter how grim things may seem.
Happiness is: Hearing from an old friend after years and reviving the old memories, joining summer classes with awesome people and doing what you love, waiting for the summers just for the sake of that fleshy stone fruit “mango” and eating it till the ‘gutlee’ (seed) turns white.
You just need to find little things and activities that might become the pillars of your happiness. It might be a hobby, a passion, a person, your work or anything that just makes you distressed and feel lighter. That stress free pillar will automatically make you feel happy and contented.
If cooking is your passion, no matter how stressed out day you had, if you would cook for yourself at the end of day. It will take off all of your stress and will make you feel happier, thus, making your passion the pillar of your happiness. Or if your partner or some person is that pillar of your happiness, spend some time with him/her at the end of day and you will forget your stresses away.
Life will keep hitting your head with bricks from time to time, but just don’t lose the faith. And most important mantra to happiness, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know the key to your happiness. When we choose to be happy, things tend to work in our favor, and luck seems to be on our side.
PS: Be happy by default as you are miserable by your own fault.
