Anu Malik no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel, Is #MeToo The Reason?

After a set of allegations of sexual harassment on Anu Malik in the #MeToo wave, it looks like the music-composer is now facing the heat for his misconduct. Due to the continuous reports of singers Shweta Pandit, Sona Mohapatra and few other anonymously women accusing Malik of sexually harassing them, the music composer came under the spotlight.

Today while interview in Mid-Day, the former assistant producer of the singing reality show Indian Idol, Danica D’Souza stated that despite knowing Anu Malik’s abusive nature, the channel and the production house blatantly ignored complaints against him.

There’s also reports suggesting Anu Malik has been asked by the channel to step down, however refusing the speculations Anu Malik told Indian Express, “I, Anu Malik, have decided to take a break from Indian Idol as I am currently unable to focus on my work on the show. They(the channel) have not asked me to step down. I have taken this stand.”

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television too has released an official statement stating, “Anu Mallik is no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel. The show will continue its planned schedule and we will invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal and Neha to judge the extraordinary talent of Indian Idol season 10.”

Till now, neither Anu nor the channel has accepted that the sexual misconduct allegations against him is the reason behind this sudden move.
